Get Blogging
Once you've decided on a topic of interest for your website or blog you need to start adding regular, top quality content... and lots of it! Keep it up to date and relevant to your target audience to encourage them to return time and again.
It can't be stressed enough that you choose carefully at this point.
Is your subject something you'll enjoy devoting your free time to every day for the foreseeable future? From my own personal experience it can take a good two years of constant work to start to see a return on your personal time investment. If you keep at it the visitors will come but don't expect them to come back if there's nothing new for them to see!
Now, it is possible to get pre-written material from article websites, but to be honest it's better to try to keep your content unique to your site. That certainly doesn't mean you shouldn't use other peoples' work but do so sparingly or keep it for a specific area of your site. Otherwise your site will just have lots of content which isn't unique to you and that won't help you with your search engine rankings.
